|
|
I just finished setting up a new pedalboard. I wanted more dirt options on this one, so I've included 7 OD/Distortion pedals. Some may say it's overkill, but I'm getting tired of only having two or three different dirt sounds for gigs with my tube rig.
Don't get me wrong - the Engl SE sound fantastic. But I just wanted some variety for some of the different songs we cover.
It's not as "pro" looking as my last board, since I used run of the mill patch cables, instead of the do-it-yourself custom cables from Lava Cable. But since the pedals are in their own loops, I've reduced the impact of these dog cords.
Here's the board that's getting replaced...

Guilty as charged... plenty o' dirt, that's for sure. But I do have the Philospher's Tone tucked in on the far right. And the dirty little secret is that it's not in a loop, so it's on all the time. WOOHOO!
No hurry on the Barber, but thanks for the offer. I'll pick it up on my next visit - which I am still trying to nail down with schedules... _________________ "The end of the Universe? I've seen it. It's rubbish. Nothing but a gnab gib."

I'm intrigued...
I've heard of the Mirage, but never played one. Sounds like a fun new toy. _________________ "The end of the Universe? I've seen it. It's rubbish. Nothing but a gnab gib."

if you have time.. read the description on the product pages.. The description is pretty dead on from what I'm seeing so far. _________________ I'm ready for the antidote can you tell me what it is? |

Yes, they do. I set them before loading gear, and put masking tape on them to hold them during transport. _________________ "The end of the Universe? I've seen it. It's rubbish. Nothing but a gnab gib."

Maybe I'm not understanding here or you are playing better places than the typical "oil drum" I seem to have to deal with but, I can't imagine not having to adjust your settings differently for different places. I have to start all over with mine for 90% of the places I end up in. Well not really the compressor but everything else. All the "tone" of the room changes or at least seems to with me.. _________________ I'm ready for the antidote can you tell me what it is? |

I do have to make some changes based on the room. But most of the time, once I get to sound check, I'll make EQ changes at the amp, and that will take care of most of the tone adjustments that need to be made. _________________ "The end of the Universe? Not at all. I have two "A" rigs.
I love the Axe-FX. It's an incredible device that blows away every other modeler out there. It's got tons of great amp tones inside. It's light, portable, convenient, and 'set and forget'.
I also love tube amps. I always will. For me, it's never been an either/or proposition. I go through periods of frustration with tube amps, and the Axe is there, solid and consistent good tones, night after night. Then, after awhile, I miss that intangible thing about tube amps, and I switch back.
If push came to shove, and I had to choose between having only one tube amp (any amp on the planet), and having the Axe-FX, I would choose the Axe.
But I'm glad I don't have to make that choice. It's great having both options. _________________ "The end of the Universe? I've seen it. It's rubbish. Nothing but a gnab gib."

You got that right, Mercy.
The Suhr Riot and the Wampler Triple Wreck are my favorite high gain pedals on the market. _________________ "The end of the Universe? I've seen it. It's rubbish. Nothing but a gnab gib."

Got cha.. just a different "ritual" than I follow.. I eq the amp for the room then the pedals. Of course, you've seen my board. I have a grand total of 4 pedals (not counting the tuner and lehle) you have what ?? 9 or something so I can see that.
